Callan Rydz wins 2020 Young Player of the Year during PDC Awards

The PDC Awards took place on Monday night with Gerwyn Price dominating proceedings but also among the winners was Callan Rydz.

Rydz joined elite company in the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Adrian Lewis to claim the award of Young Player of the Year.

In the process also he pipped Development Tour standouts Ryan Meikle and Keane Barry as well as World Youth Champion, Bradley Brooks to the award.

This comes after a strong debut year on the PDC ProTour, a Development Tour win and runs at the Players Championship Finals and World Championship as he showed consistent brilliance throughout his debut season.

"For me to win this award, it's unbelievable," said Rydz. "It was surreal just to be nominated, never mind to win the award. It gives me a bit more confidence going into the year.

"I got on the tour this year and I didn't have a good start but towards the end of the year I really did play some good stuff."
