Chisnall further cements overall lead on Euro Tour Order of Merit after victory in Hungary

Dave Chisnall has further cemented his first spot on the European Tour Order of Merit with his final victory at the Hungarian Darts Trophy. 'Chizzy' won his third Euro Tour tournament of the season in Hungary and has already earned £126,000 at Euro Tour tournaments this year.

With one tournament remaining, Chisnall has a 20,000-pound lead over Luke Humphries, who lost a Euro Tour final to Chisnall for the third time this year. Only with a title at the German Darts Championship in October can Humphries possibly still take over the first spot from Chisnall, who then may not get past the last sixteen.

So there is a good chance Chisnall will be seeded first at the European Championship in late October. The 32 best players of the European Tour can participate.

Gerwyn Price, Michael van Gerwen, Dirk van Duijvenbode and Damon Heta follow in the Order of Merit and are all more than guaranteed to be competing at the European Championship. Gian van Veen can now be added to that list. The 21-year-old Dutchman narrowly missed out on participation in the World Grand Prix, but did secure participation in the European Championship by reaching the third round of the Hungarian Darts Trophy.

The European Championship will take place in Dortmund from Oct. 26 to 29. Defending champion at this tournament is Ross Smith, who surprisingly won his first major title last year by defeating Michael Smith in the final.
