Christian Perez's victory over Niels Zonneveld at the European Darts Grand Prix has created a special milestone. Perez is the first Asian player ever to win a match on the European Tour.
The Filipino was only the second Asian participant on the Euro Tour anyway. He followed in the footsteps of Hong Kong's Kai Fan Leung, who competed in two Euro Tour events in 2020. However, Leung failed to finish a match victoriously then.
So Perez succeeded. Thanks to his 6-4 victory over Zonneveld, the 42-year-old darter gets to battle two-time world champion Gary Anderson in the second round.
