Jonny Clayton will make his
Premier League Darts debut this evening after winning the Masters sealed him his spot in January.
Clayton has been making steady progress and to start 2021 has in many people's eyes been the most in-form darts player so far this year.
After making his debut as a Contender last year, he 'cannot wait' for the task in hand when he begins his tilt in Milton Keynes.
"I'm looking forward to it big time. It's been a couple of weeks in the back of my head but listen it's one of the best competitions in the world of darts so I cannot wait, I'm really looking forward," said Clayton.
"I had a taste of it last year with the Contender but I'm in it full time so I'm a happy man."
Backing from 'The Power'
Phil Taylor spoke to BetBull pre-tournament and predicted that Clayton would be one to watch this year due in part to his job as a plasterer meaning he has the stamina to handle the hard yards of the Premier League.
"It's amazing. I'm not one on social media because I don't look too far into things. But when you hear Phil Taylor say that, probably the greatest darts player to throw a dart, it puts a smile on your face and I hope he's right," he added.
"I'm just one of these, I got to work I come home and I practice at night and I look forward to my next competition. I started playing darts as a plasterer and I kept going through, the massive decisions of giving up work. I don't think it's gonna work for me at the moment so I'm going to stay in work and enjoy my time on the dartboard as well."
