Clayton on Price's positive test after opening draw against Wright: "The Premier League will miss him"

Jonny Clayton produced the best average of any Premier League debutant with 105 but could only salvage a draw against Peter Wright who was flawless on doubles.

Clayton had a mixed reaction to claiming a point admitting he had his chances but with the display Wright put in, he said it was also good in the end.

"Obviously a good point and a bad point. I think I had my chance, I didn't take it so it's a good point," said Clayton post match.

"I missed 16's and the bull, Peter (Wright) didn't miss anything on doubles so at the end of the day, I can't argue with that. When I got my chance, I didn't take that to take that leg off him so listen he's class and I'm happy with the way I'm played."

His World Cup partner Gerwyn Price tested positive for Covid-19 and was excluded from the Premier League as a result. Of course, he was asked about this and offered his reaction to 'The Iceman' not being involved.

"It's hard on Gezzy. Being World Champion and World Number One, he wants to be here. I obviously feel sorry for the guy. He's a good friend, a great dart player and I think the Premier League will miss him. We need him there and the public would like to see him play so I'm gutted for him."
