Rob Cross is the latest player through to the semi-finals at the 2021
European Championship after seeing off Jose de Sousa in a 10-5 win.
Cross, the 2019 champion is now one win away from preserving his spot in the Last 16 of the PDC Order of Merit after the potential for him to slip towards the top 30 due to defending winnings from two years ago.
But he has stuck to the task at hand all weekend and saw off the Portuguese ace who was under par at times during the contest.
It was a lead throughout for Cross who took a 3-1 lead in the form of a break of throw with a 60 checkout to cement his early dominance. De Sousa continued to squander opportunities with two for the leg and Cross took out 68 to hold and go 5-2 up.
De Sousa stayed within touching distance at 6-4 at the break but again Cross took away any opportunities for a fightback with a 104 checkout almost the nail in the coffin at 8-4 up.
This was confounded nearly by De Sousa busting 121 on treble 20 only to go and take it out on the next visit but Cross claimed it from there to book his semi-final spot in Salzburg.
