Joe Cullen is through to the second round of the World Matchplay after producing a brilliant comeback to see off Ian White in a sudden death thriller 13-12.
Cullen faced White last year and lost 10-0; but claimed revenge this time around albeit having to produce a comeback in the process.
He spoke afterwards and said he felt good going onto the stage; but towards the end, he thought he was done and out of the competition.
“I can’t remember the last time I felt as good going onto stage; I genuinely thought I was going to blow Ian (White) away," said Cullen post-match to
Online Darts.
He continued: "I got the job done in the end; I’m sure I’ll find the positives from the game."
"I was planning my losing speech. I think the difference is last year it could have been 10-0, 10-1, it's irrelevant. Ian was playing really well last year; Ian was playing rubbish tonight and I think he will be the first to admit it so that's what gave me the belief."
