Joe Cullen pulled off a something of a shock in the second round of the World Matchplay. 'The Rockstar' knocked out fourth-seeded Gerwyn Price 11-9 in a classic.
"I'm not happy with the way I played but it's just a case of getting the result," Cullen opened. "When you're under it and the pressure is really on and you really need your best stuff if you've got a set of balls on you it will work. I knew I could find something."
With Price, Michael van Gerwen and Michael Smith, the three pre-tournament favourites all now having been dumped out, the 2023 World Matchplay is one of the most open majors in a long time.
"People in darts know that anyone is capable of beating anyone on any given day," evaluates Cullen. "I'm just taking it one game at a time. Obviously, I beat Gezzy which is great, but now I need to focus and be ready for Daryl (Gurney e.d.)."
