Nathan Aspinall has qualified for the quarterfinals of the
World Matchplay for the third consecutive year. 'The Asp' defeated Danny Noppert 11-9 in the second round.
Aspinall was far from underwhelming against Noppert. "I knew it would be tough. It's been publicly noted that we play each other all the time and it's always 6-5," Aspinall said. "I wasn't happy with my performance but he missed some doubles and I punished him every single time."
In both 2021 and 2022, Aspinall went down against
Michael van Gerwen in the quarterfinals of the World Matchplay, this year that won't be the case. "I'm not playing Michael van Gerwen so I might have a chance," Aspinall laughed. "I've got to get up there and do a job. Best of 31 and I can't wait. My kids are coming as well so I'm buzzing for that."
