De Decker to become fifth Belgian to play at World Matchplay

Mike de Decker has already secured a starting spot at the prestigious tournament in Blackpool prior to the final tournament in the World Matchplay qualifying round.

De Decker becomes the fifth Belgian competitor in the history of the World Matchplay. In 1995, Jef Scheyltjens was the first darter from Belgium to make his appearance at the Winter Gardens.

Then it was not until 2012 that a Belgian could be admired again at the World Matchplay. Kim Huybrechts then made his debut, competing eight times in total.

His brother Ronny Huybrechts was also at the World Matchplay in 2013. Dimitri van den Bergh became the fourth Belgian in 2019 and has not missed an edition since.
