The upcoming edition of Premier League Darts will be the 20th edition in the history of the prestigious darts competition. In the past, the tournament was often dominated by Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen.
Taylor managed to win the league stage eight times and take the final victory six times during the playoffs. Van Gerwen was also the strongest eight times during the regular competition, but has won the playoffs seven times.
In eighteen of the previous nineteen editions of Premier League Darts, Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor were also responsible for the highest tournament average. Van Gerwen's highest tournament average dates back to 2016, when he threw an average 107.48 points per turn during Premier League Darts. Taylor had a tournament average of 106.73 during the 2012 edition.
Dimitri van den Bergh is the only other player who once had the highest tournament average. During the 2021 edition, 'The Dreammaker' had a tournament average of 100.20. Remarkably, the Belgian failed to make the playoffs that year.

- What a undignified way to bow out of the darts for the greatest darts player ever, absolutely the best. Nobody was as dedicated or committed or even half as good as Phil. He completely dominated darts, not only the greatest darts player ever but also one of the greatest sportsman ever. Ayrton Senna is my ultimate hero but Phil won 16 World Championships, Eric only won 5 and that won't be surpassed. Thank you Phil, not my most favourite player but certainly the greatest and loved watching you completely destroy every opponent, almost never missed a treble or any check out. - I don't have a problem with someone being whoever they want to be, but ultimately there is a Ladies and Mens format for a reason. What is going to stop substandard men claiming that they are transgender and entering the ladies format for an opportunity to increase their profile, prize money, ranking etc etc. We know that the current crop of PDC players will suck up to van Leuven and will not speak out.richieburnettrocks23-10-2024
- The bottom line is Beau will be a triple World Champion soon. She is so many levels better than the rest of the ladies. Lorraine and Aileen have never really raised their game, I really expected the quality of the ladies game to have improved but excluding Beau, it seems to have detiorated.
