The PDC Europe Super League is set to start next weekend. Traditionally known as the
German Super League, it plays host to 24 German players vying it out for a spot at the PDC World Championship.
This number has risen by eight from previous years with players outside the top 32 in the Order of Merit eligible which rules out Gabriel Clemens.
Well known names such as
Martin Schindler,
Max Hopp and
Nico Kurz are among the participants. They managed to avoid each other in the draw.
Schindler is in Group A with Dragutin Horvat and Kevin Münch, among others, while Kurz competes in Group B against Christian Bunse, among others.
Robert Marijanovic is the most famous player in Group C, along with new Tour Card holder Florian Hempel in this group.
Max Hopp is in Group D and plays against Steffen Siepmann and Rene Eidams, among others.
Format
They will compete in a preliminary round in four groups of six players each. They will face off twice in their respective group. For each match won, the player receives one point.
The top four players of each group will qualify for the next round with the 16 players left claiming a spot in next years' Super League.
They will then aim to reach the final round which comprises two groups of four players and from there, it is knockout format until a winner is crowned.
