Kevin van der Voort
Kevin van der Voort, son of Dutch former major finalist Vincent van der Voort, was recently a guest on the podcast "Double Top. There he brought up a fun anecdote from during this year's UK Open.
Kevin van der Voort was a regular at his father's tournaments. "The best times were the last few years," he says. "He would regularly start taking some things from me when I said something. I liked that.
"For example, at the last UK Open he played in the fourth round against Boris Krcmar. He was leading 6-4 at the break and yet he was whining. I just felt Krcmar was up for grabs and then gave him encouragement to finish that match.
"In the end, he also won 10-5 and then he expressed that joy to me as well. Normally that is something he keeps to himself out of some kind of fatherly pride."

Party
Kevin van der Voort still has some anecdotes, but he can't tell them all. "Let's just say that everything that happens at tournaments outside of darts is pretty much a party. You wouldn't say it's all about top sport."
"For example, you regularly see players still at a club at 4 a.m. when they have to play the next day. And the strange thing is that they often play well then, too. There's always something happening at tournaments," Kevin laughs.
