Durrant speaks on rise of Ladies Darts after Ashton and Sherrock success: "It's just been absolutely amazing and rightfully so"

Glen Durrant will be part of this year's Premier League which starts next week in Aberdeen as the meteoric rise of the Teesside ace continues.

Durrant in a recent segment called My Story with the PDC where he went through his career in darts, he spoke about the wait for the Premier League call and how in his mind he didn't think he'd get in.

"The story is quite simple there, I said to my manager I don't want to know if I'm picked because I knew they'd ring him about my availability. So I went to Catterick Races because I was pacing up and down the house. I thought Chizzy was going to get in over me, but things were going well for me at the World Championship," said Durrant to the PDC.

"Everything was going right for me. I knew I was in for a chance, if I was a betting man I would have said that Chizzy would have just pipped me. I was gutted when I heard it was Challengers again because I knew if it was 10 players, I'd get in."

Facing Sherrock and state of Women's Darts

Durrant also spoke about the Challengers and spoke about the current state of Ladies Darts ahead of facing Fallon Sherrock and by his own admission the crowd when he takes to the stage in Week 2 in Nottingham.

"Self-reflection is an important thing to me and I started to think about Aberdeen and who I was going to play. I was pretty sure I was going to play Chris (Dobey) in Newcastle so I was thinking about that game a lot. So it came out of the blue when I came home from Germany this weekend to find out I'm playing Fallon so that's just another massive challenge."

"It's just been absolutely amazing and rightfully so. When I was in the BDO, the Women's was more exciting than the men's. I was winning an awful lot. You couldn't pick your winner in the Ladies."

"Once again for me controversially, Fallon for me is the worst challenger. If I was playing her on the ProTour, she'd be the one out of the nine I'd want. All these challengers are unbelievable, you got to Rotterdam against Jeffrey de Zwaan no thank you but what comes with Fallon is the crowd."
