Dutch darting delight for Wattimena, King edges past Bellmont

The opening round of the Dutch Darts Championship continues to head towards its conclusion with Jermaine Wattimena, Mervyn King and Mickey Mansell through to Saturday's action.

Wattimena was fired up and for good reason. 'The Machine Gun' wore the colours of Zwolle after recently moving to the area with his girlfriend and was exuberant with his celebrations as he sealed a 6-3 win over Rene Eidams.

After Eidams took the lead, Wattimena struck in the sixth leg with a 52 finish and then held his throw for 5-2. Eidams made it 5-3 but struggled throughout with his darting pitching low in the 20 bed and Wattimena made him pay as he set up a tie with Peter Wright.

For Niels Zonneveld though, it wasn't Double Dutch Darting Delight as he crashed out at the hands of Mickey Mansell who has been in superb form as of late and produced a 113 checkout when it mattered most in the decider. Next is Dirk van Duijvenbode for 'The Clonoe Cyclone'.

While King edged past Stefan Bellmont who could find his way into the World Cup team for Switzerland but won't be in the second round in Zwolle.

'The King' produced an 86 average and three 180's despite missing 14 darts at doubles throughout the contest but he is through to Saturday.
