Mark Webster as a former World Champion who now works as a pundit and commentator for Sky Sports is currently not attempting to return to competitive action and sat down with The Darts Show podcast to discuss his battle with dartitis which he said he hasn't fully recovered from to this day.
"2014 time I just remember thinking what's going on here. I know it's very much a mental thing, I refused to use the word dartitis just as a mental thing. I called it a technical issue but I knew it was just getting worse and players were starting to notice it as well," he said on The Darts Show podcast.
"I remember playing a game once in a European Tour qualifier and I could see people watching me because I was all over the place, couldn't let it go. It was a real testing time in my career and I've never recovered. I had a little run but never recovered the confidence."
"That period was the most down and upset I've been in the sport. I was having to adapt, you want to feel comfortable. It was one that crept up on me, I was convinced it was because I was mentally weak but Eric (Bristow) got it and he wasn't mentally weak."
"To this day, I've not got it anymore, I can throw pretty well but my confidence is shell shocked and my technique still isn't great."
