Leonard Gates will not only make debuts at the PDC World Darts Championship and Grand Slam of Darts later this year but also the World Series of Darts Finals.
Gates was one of the invited players for the AFAS Live in Amsterdam alongside the main players involved in the World Series this year as well as Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock who won the World Cup of Darts and will play the whole Australia/New Zealand leg anyway.
He sealed his spot after winning the North American Championship and reached the latter stages of the US Darts Masters after defeating Fallon Sherrock.
But in doing so, Gates becomes the first American to compete in the tournament with only Jeff Smith previously invited through that route albeit he is from Canada.
