Gilding dumps out Wright, Van Gerwen eases past Kciuk as Players Championship 5 begins

Some early results from the fifth Players Championship tournament of the season with Michael Van Gerwen through successfully in Barnsley.
Van Gerwen eased past Krzysztof Kciuk 6-2 with a 96 average as he looks to continue his return to form. While Joe Cullen, Ryan Searle and Damon Heta were also among the early winners.
Krzysztof Ratajski was the first seed to fall with Rowby-John Rodriguez accounting for him after the Austrian sealed double qualification for the European Tour yesterday.
Jonny Clayton, Luke Humphries and Raymond van Barneveld are also successfully through but for Peter Wright who was a doubt going into this weekend, he will return to the hotel early.
This after being dumped out by Andrew Gilding despite averaging 99, he lost out 6-3 with ‘Goldfinger’ sending Snakebite home.
