Michael van Gerwen has convincingly qualified for the quarter-finals of the Masters. 'Mighty Mike' was a 10-4 winner over reigning champion Chris Dobey on Saturday night.
“I can’t complain too much,” Van Gerwen began his post-match recap. “It wasn’t the best performance, but I think I played some really good darts towards the end of the match."
Despite the vast success of 'MVG' during his career, the Masters is something he's not won since 2019. “I’ve been waiting a few years for this title, but I feel sharp, I feel comfortable, and I’m just focused on beating whoever is in my path," he says. "Gerwyn Price pulled out because he wanted some time off during this busy period. My personal choice was to play."
Van Gerwen will take on Dave Chisnall in the quarterfinals. "He's a fantastic player," van Gerwen says of 'Chizzy'. "He's a better floor player than he is a stage player, and we all know that. But still, now and then, he can play really good on stage as well."
