"He's got the smoothest throw" - Luke Littler on who is intrinsically the best player in the world

Luke Humphries currently leads the world rankings. But Luke Littler thinks another player is intrinsically the best

Littler was recently a guest on the Happy Hour podcast and was asked there who he thinks is currently the best player in the world. "Erm… probably Michael Smith," said Littler. "He's just, me and Luke [Humphries] have said he's got the smoothest throw, as soon as he lets it go they're just boom, boom. They're in."

Smith and Littler have already met four times this year in Premier League Darts, three of which Smith managed to win. One of those was in the semifinal of the first match day in Cardiff. "I actually thought in the semi-final Luke Littler was Welsh," he joked. "It's going to be every week, it doesn't matter where it is.

"Everyone's fallen in love with him. He's even bigger than Phil Taylor, who won 16 world titles. Luke is the most popular thing in darts. I'm going to ride the wave. People keep following, sponsors keep coming in, and the prize money is going up for us lads.

"When I walked in this afternoon there were no interviews. Luke Littler walked in and it was 'can you do this one, can you do that one?'. That was me last year. This time I got to sit and chill, break up my time on the board and it worked."
