Heta hopes to inspire after surprise victory in Brisbane: '“Hopefully that can give much belief to anybody”

Damon Heta claimed victory in Brisbane last weekend in one of the biggest surprise stories of the year in darts and speaking ahead of the next event in Melbourne, he admitted that he hopes to inspire other players.

He added that in his opinion Australian darts is getting bigger and better and that there will be more and more like him who try to make it and 'take over'.

“Hopefully that (winning in Brisbane) can give much belief to anybody,” said Heta.

“They will hopefully be saying ‘if he can do it, what’s stopping anyone else.

“Australian darts is getting bigger and better. There is going to be a wave of Australians over there (on the PDC tour) and we are going to take over."

'The Heat' said that it was always his goal to do well in the triple header of tournaments and after failing in the past he wanted to give it another go and of course it came with brilliant results.

“I am aging pretty fast,” he joked. “That was my aim from the start to do well in these tournaments.”

“I have been there once and to myself I failed."

“I wanted to give it another go and my mind is set and that’s it.”
