Ricardo Pietreczko, Damon Heta and Jermaine Wattimena are all into the final day of the 2024 Czech Darts Open after contrasting displays to begin Saturday's action as the seeds had mixed success to proceed to the final day.
Pietreczko showed the better against Martin Lukeman (6-5). The German showed resilience by making up both a 0-2 and 2-4 deficit. With a 16-darter and a 76 finish, 'Pikachu' returned to 4-4.
Then Pietreczko gained the lead for the first time in the match by throwing a 16-darter in the ninth leg. Lukeman responded with a 13-darter and forced a final leg. In the leg-decider, Pietreczko showed his class by ending the match with a 12-darter.
Damon Heta will also return to the final day of the Euro Tour tournament in Prague. 'The Heat' played an excellent match against Gabriel Clemens, defeating the German 6-3.
While Jermaine Wattimena made it to the third round at the Czech Darts Open after a spectacular performance. 'The Machine Gun' pulverized Chris Dobey and had just 84 darts to give Dobey a 6-0 thrashing.
In the first leg, Dobey missed one break opportunity before Wattimena held his own with a 16-darter. Then the first break fell with a 12-darter, before Wattimena punished three misses by Dobey on the doubles with a 17-darter.
After that, the turbo went on briskly. With two 12-darters, Wattimena brought the score to 5-0, before deciding the game with a 15-darter. Wattimena's average finished at 107.36, the highest average ever of the dart player from Westervoort on stage. Wattimena will face a Dutchman in the last sixteen. He will meet the winner of the match between Maik Kuivenhoven and Raymond van Barneveld.
