Humphries averages 109 as title defence continues in Van Veen epic as Heta silences partisan German crowd

It has once again taken a special display to topple the Dutch rising star Gian van Veen and that has come from defending champion, Luke Humphries at the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen.

It was a 6-4 win from Humphries who was in sensational form averaging an incredible 109 in the end and defying 106 from his opponent with both landing five 180's in the tie.

This also featured 60% on the outer ring from 'Cool Hand Luke' with Van Veen himself hitting 66.7% on the doubles in defeat as Humphries marginally better scoring made the difference.

From sensational to silencing as Damon Heta took down Martin Schindler and despite endearing himself to the crowd with his superb walk-ons, he of course didn't have crowd support in this one.

He sealed it 6-5 though with a superb display himself hitting a 98.7 average with five 180's and 55% on the doubles. A blockbuster semi-final is now set.
