Humphries was the defending champion coming into the open tournament which also included former UK Open qualifier Darryl Pilgrim and second place in the Challenge Tour, Rob Collins.
For 'Cool Hand', he battled through to the Last 16 coming from 2-1 behind in a race to four beating Stephan Wood 4-2. A tough tie awaited though against Collins and he rose to the task claiming a 4-3 win with a 93 average compared to Collins' 86.
It was a more simpler task of sorts against Pilgrim in the next round claiming a 5-2 win with a 94 average albeit like against Collins with no 180's. A 6-2 win followed in the semi-finals against Gary Blackwood.
He continued to average around the 93-94 mark in victory and then Dan Read followed. It was a 7-3 victory for the World Youth Champion who hit two 180's and a 92 average in an impressive day of darts.
