On debut again, it was a golden weekend for
Luke Littler who stormed to victory in the
World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam on Sunday. He defeated Michael Smith 11-4 in the final.
He averaged over 100 every game and dismantled both Smith and also Michael van Gerwen en route to sealing the title. As ever taking everything in his stride, he said that he feels on top of the world and also untouchable this weekend.
"I'm really happy to get the win here this weekend. Played unbelievable myself I have to say myself all weekend but the fans they were really good throughout the tournament and I'm happy to come out the winner," said Littler to Online Darts.
"Tonight I felt like no one could beat me, I felt on top of the world as anyone would. Especially when I'm putting in silly numbers. That goes to show why I've come here as number one seed."
But he also rubbished the notion that he had a dip at the World Matchplay and gained some manner of revenge against MVG in Amsterdam.
"I wouldn't say the Matchplay was a dip, it's just I'll be honest I was nervous against Michael (van Gerwen). At the Winter Gardens, the crowd are really good but that was all a learning curve and I'm glad to beat him on his own soil tonight."
"Anyone wins nine legs on the trot against Michael wherever it may be but certainly here in Holland but I just felt unbeatable once again and I couldn't believe myself. Just winning nine on the spin and advancing to the final."
Now he is looking for more major wins and says he wants to win a third come what may whatever it is.
"I know there's a busy schedule ahead. Quite a few Majors to go the rest of the year and that's what I want to do pick up another one but it's all just practice now and onto the next one."
Asked by Dutch press about looking up to MVG and Van Barneveld also, he said that has now gone out of the window now he is beating them.
"I wouldn't say I look up to them as I'm playing with them now. I used to look up to them and now I'm beating them."
