Rob Cross narrowly missed out on Sunday night's conclusion of the opening European Tour of the season. 'Voltage' lost 8-7 to Luke Littler in the final of the Belgian Darts Open.

In truth, Cross did little wrong in the final, even achieving a much higher average (108.00) than Littler (103.76). "I wanted a big display and I got a big display," said the 33-year-old Englishman, who won his first European Tour tournament last year at the European Darts Grand Prix, in his post-match interview.

"I missed a few chances but I can't be bitter about them," Cross continued. "Luke is special, he has such a bright future in front of him; the nine was amazing."

Cross therefore looks back on the weekend as a whole with satisfaction. "I've loved playing in front of this crowd, I've really enjoyed my weekend here," he concludes.
