The semi-final line-up has been characterised by an openness at the
World Grand Prix with all four left not being a weak link and all capable and
Wayne Mardle ran the rule over the line-up in Leicester.
Michael Smith will meet
Gerwyn Price and
Joe Cullen takes on
Luke Humphries and he believes all four will see it as a big opportunity.
"Joe's won the Masters so he knows how to win a big event. Luke (Humphries) is the one that doesn't but is the one who is winning more often than any of the last four so it's intriguing, it really is. Peter Wright the way he played was incredible. We know that Luke got the better of him," he said on Sky Sports.
"Gerwyn (Price) has not been pushed and when he has for a leg or two, he's had the answers. All four players will know this is so winnable. This is so doable."
Time is coming for Humphries
But one player that he believes has his name on a trophy whether this weekend or going forward is Humphries. He lauded Cool Hand Luke and said his time is coming.
Also though, he believes there is a lot more to come too from a certain Iceman as Gerwyn Price has won through despite not being at his best.
"This is a man (Humphries) that wins a lot of events beating these players, it's just on a bigger stage with a bigger meaning. That's where it all comes in. I think his time is coming. Maybe it's Sunday. Maybe it's the Grand Slam. Luke Humphries' time is coming."
"The fact that he (Price) hasn't played well yet and he's in the semi-final is testament to how good he is. If anyone can get on a roll on double 20 hitting, it's Gerwyn Price. Him and Michael Smith will know they can win or lose that game. So will Joe Cullen and Luke Humphries, it's also so winnable which is so fascinating. None of the four players are nailed on to win this. It's intriguing."
