For the first time in his career, Haupai Puha managed to win a match at the New Zealand Darts Masters on Friday. He surprisingly triumphed 6-2 against Dimitri van den Bergh.
The New Zealander played a particularly strong match in front of his own crowd. After Van den Bergh took a 2-1 lead, Puha turned the game around thanks to three 100+ finishes.
"It's awesome," said a delighted Puha post-match. "To do what I did in front of the New Zealand crowd is an honour and a privilege."
Puha is incredibly proud of his achievement. "I'm very happy - it's one of the best moments of my career. I treated it like it was just another game in the garage. The practice wasn't too good but getting up there I was hitting what I wanted to hit - I did the checkouts that I needed to do." he concluded.
