Luke Littler performed well but survived an examination at times against Ian White at the PDC World Darts Championship winning 4-1 and now will face Ryan Joyce in the next round.
Speaking afterwards, Littler spoke about bringing the aggression out and being frustrated at only hitting a 98 average elevating himself consistently to new standards and heights on a night that also saw Michael van Gerwen nearly head out of the tournament.

"Happy scoring wise, doubles need to be a bit better as if Ian hit his doubles, it would've gone his way. But thankfully he missed and I hit my doubles," said Littler.
"From the off he was always right behind me. If I hit a 180, he'd always hit one back. But it was just good to leave them 184's after six darts and you're favourite for the leg."
"I know I can do better than a 98, everyone knows it. Set play, it doesn't matter what average you have. You could go and average 50/60 and you could still possibly win the set. But it's just all about winning."
"It was just the case of winning that first game. Having Christmas and coming back. Soon as I won that first set I was in. I'm expecting same old Ryan (Joyce) hitting his doubles first or second time but hopefully he does miss. But for myself, hit them doubles and take the shots when I can."
He spoke about bringing out the ruthless aggression and how he doesn't want to be a nice person on the board and show that other side.
"It's good for myself to show that I can be ruthless. I'm not a nice person at times on the board, I don't think anyone else is. But it's always good to have that bit of aggression."
"Ian's been around for many years, he's played my Grandad. But it's good to be ruthless especially on the last dart as many people do see."
