Luke Humphries sealed two wins in a day seeing off Raymond van Barneveld and Damon Heta to register his spot in the Quarter-Finals of the Players Championship Finals.
There he will face off against Ryan Joyce. But he lamented the fact that he couldn't finish off games when he was ahead cruising and smashing in massive averages.
Especially against Raymond van Barneveld when he nearly let the doyen of Dutch darts back into the clash. But his title defence is alive and that is the most important part for him.
"Two good displays but they could've been a lot better. Against Barney it was a really good performance until I got to the back end of the game, I kind of let it slip. You kind of want to put them statements out and really good performances but at the end of the day, I thought it doesn't matter you've won the game you can try again tonight. I thought I was really decent until I got to the back end again. I felt like I dropped off again. I made it a lot harder for myself than I felt like it could have been but when you win the games, it doesn't really matter," said Humphries.
"My opponent Ryan Joyce I won't look past him and think it's an easy draw. It's a tough game, he's a tough player to beat."
Luke Humphries stays alive in Minehead.
He said that he isn't looking too far ahead but that the Luke Littler clash being on fans' lips is a real privilege and he hopes it happens to please those watching.
Also he said that the reason for the duo managing to stay alive while others don't is due mainly to consistency.
"I don't look that far ahead of course. But now we're in the situation in the Quarter-Finals you can look and think that's a possibility. I think it's just nice and a privilege that it is on people's lips. They want to see me and Luke. Nothing's ever a given in this game as we've seen over the last two months. But if we get through those two tough games and if we meet in the final, it is a blockbuster clash. It is something that the fans want to see."
"I just think we're the most consistent. I don't think players fear us but people try a lot harder against us than they do maybe anyone else. We've got that factor in us where we are very consistent and if you play really really well then you'll beat us and if you don't, you probably won't."
