"It's a great feeling to prove these people wrong and shut them all up" - Luke Humphries on dealing with doubters and criticism

Luke Humphries recently won the World Grand Prix, finally claiming the first major TV title of his career, and securing his position in the top-4 of the PDC Order of Merit.

Humphries had long been seen as a major talent, yet it still took some time until he won his first major. "I had got a little bit of stick at times but I don't play this sport for people's benefit or for people's approval." said the 28-year-old Englishman to Oche180. "You're never going to be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine."

"A lot of people would say that I haven't got any bottle because I hadn't done it yet, (win a major ed.). Every time I lost in a major they kept doing it. They did it to Michael Smith too and in the end it got a bit silly."

"This game is so full of quality dart players, if I hadn't won the title it wouldn't have meant I'm a bottler, I'd have just lost to the better player," Humphries concludes. "But it's a great feeling to prove these people wrong and shut them all up."
