Gerwyn Price has made an excellent start to the European Championship. 'The Iceman' defeated Keane Barry 6-1 in the opening round.
Price averaged just over 90, but was still satisfied. "First round is always always the toughest one so yeah, just glad to get a win," Price said post-match to Online Darts. "Doesn't matter how well you play or how bad you play, a couple of boys in this tournament have played really well and gone out."
The 38-year-old Welshman will take on Nathan Aspinall in the second round on Saturday. "I'm glad the format goes up, I'd rather not have a day off, I'd rather just keep flowing but yeah you know, it is what it is."
"I want to be here, then I don't want to be here. There's things going on at home," Price answers when asked about where his head is at. "It's my daughter's birthday this weekend so I'd rather be home than be here. I was caught in two minds so it's one of those things."
Price has a lot of prize money to defend in the coming weeks for the world rankings. "I know I'm defending the Grand Slam so I'll try and cover this week and make things a little easier. If I don't then I'll just go and win the Grand Slam so it doesn't matter!"
