Chris Dobey has successfully made it into the second round of the
European Championship. 'Hollywood' was too strong for
Dave Chisnall in his opening match 6-2.
Dobey, however, quickly found himself down 2-0. "You can't let Chizzy off, the game could be over in minutes Dobey said post-match to Online Darts. "So I had to do something and obviously, I felt I lost the second leg and kind of got gifted the third leg so yeah, I was just happy the doubles started to go once I go that first one."
Chisnall was struggling with a foot injury, something Dobey himself picked up on. "I did. I've just said to Dave there, I noticed him wiggling his foot and I thought 'I wonder if he's went over on it' and I tried not to let that get to me because you can't feel sorry for him."
Dobey was too strong for Michael van Gerwen in the opening round of the European Championships last year after a terrific 6-5 match. He eventually departed in the semifinals against tournament winner Ross Smith. "I'm feeling good at the moment and getting to a very regular level," Dobey says. "If I keep playing like this it's just a matter of time before I win another major."
