Last week John Part spoke to 'The Weekly Dartscast' about his thoughts on the early rounds of the PDC World Darts Championships and his plans for next year.
Here's what the former World Darts Championship winner had to say about the tournament so far.
“It’s a hard read usually, because we have the first rounds with the extra players we get to see the status of the game and its very interesting. But at the same time we don’t really get the full sense of what we thinks going to happen in the tournament until we get to the seeds.”
“But then again we have had some real eye openers like Scott Williams and Michael van Gerwen has certainly played a really good game. But the ones that didn’t we aren’t reading a lot into it because we are just thinking we will see the outcome when we come back from the stuffing and turkey.”
Although he is watching this tournament in the studio he let the podcast know his plans for next year and if Q-School was on his radar.
“For me I am not going to go Q-school, because its very hard for me as I am already in the UK over Christmas and New Year for three weeks and it would add another two weeks on.”
“For me my mind isn’t the best the longer I’m away from home. I am not trying to make excuses but its just the fact and I get stale. You tend to try too hard because you’ve made the sacrifice and for me it’s a vicious circle.”
Q-school may not be in his plans for 2023, however he made it very clear that the World Senior Darts Championships is something he is already thinking about.
“I believe I can win, for me with any tournament I’ve just got to get out of the gate and start generating. I always think I can win any event so that isn’t the issue - its just playing up to it.”
Finally when asked who he would like to play in the final he responded with an answer everyone expected.
“I guess Phil, always Phil.”
