James Wade, Michael Smith and Raymond van Barneveld are through to the second round already at Players Championship 28 in Wigan after winning their opening matches at Robin Park.

Wade eased past Rhys Griffin in a 6-2 win for 'The Machine'. While Smith saw off Andy Boulton 6-5 with a 96 average to boot. Other winners included Ritchie Edhouse, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Andrew Gilding and Raymond van Barneveld.

Van Barneveld took down Jules van Dongen with a 6-3 win averaging 95 in the process. Otherwise Joe Cullen and Callan Rydz are out early on in Wigan with defeats to a few of the main seeds.

The top 16 including Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries now open up their accounts as the top 16 seeds.
