Jose Justicia marked a brilliant PDC World Championship debut by easing past Arron Monk in straight sets.
Justicia hit an 88 average with 39 percent on the doubles but just had an edge over the returning Monk who hit an 82 average and 23 percent on his doubles. He will face Stephen Bunting next.
Monk took the opening leg with a 74 checkout but Justicia was straight back with an 83 finish which saw him then take the requisite two legs and show a bit of emotion on the stage as he won the first set.
Justicia continued that good form to begin the tie by hitting a 70 finish to go 1-0 up and that lead was doubled with a break of throw which saw 'The Joker' go on the brink of a two set lead.
Despite that Monk clawed his way back into the set making it 2-2 and asking the question of the Spaniard on his own throw. A 76 finish saw Justicia claim a second set.
Monk gave two chances to Justicia to break his throw after he couldn't finish the leg off and he obliged going 1-0 up. He went one away with a hold of throw on double 15.
Justicia missed a 124 on the bull but Monk couldn't punish on either occasion and this allowed him to claim the victory.
