Mervyn King dumped out Nathan Aspinall in the opening tie of the World Matchplay with the experienced Bradwell ace coming from behind to defeat the in-form debutant.
King spoke afterwards saying he was very pleased with his efforts against 'The Asp'. He acknowledged when he fell behind and he said he refocused at five-all which was the difference.
As was the 160 checkout in the latter half of the contest and he said it was a big moment. He also added that for him the game is always there and that if he turns up he wins.
"I'm very pleased with that," said King. "I started well, fell asleep in the middle and woke up at the end.
"I think I shoot him a little bit at the start and he played some excellent darts in the second session. After that first break my first dart was dropping low, but I refocused myself at five-all.
"The 160 was a big moment to show that I wasn't going away. My game is always there and it's all about whether it comes out, but if
Mervyn King turns up then I'll win."
