Former two-time World Champion, Adrian Lewis as ever is confident of a return to his best and believes at times he just isn’t getting the ‘rub of the green’.
“I think I’ve played some steady darts and some rubbish darts. Overall, I’ve been fairly steady. I’ve had a few averages over the 110 mark, which is good,” he said in an interview posted by MDA Events.
“I seem to be losing a lot of games with averages around the 95 mark. I’m not playing bad, I’m just sometimes not getting the rub of the green. That’s darts.”
On his hopes of qualifying for the World Matchplay, Lewis added: “I was £3,500 in front [of the cut-off] in the Matchplay going into Niedernhausen [which staged two Players Championship events last month]. But unfortunately, I caught Covid so I couldn’t go there. Now I’m only £750 in front.”
He was also upbeat on his chances of winning another World title. “I’m 99.9 per cent [sure).”
More chance of Richie Burnett being a 3 time World Champion and I love Richie but it’s not going to happen. Jackpot looks more like a Potless hobo nowadays, but I did enjoy watching him when he was on it.
First thing he needs to do is stop whinging when he loses (particularly when its a close match) and blaming the other player for unfair antics. He does not look fit or well, always looks like he needs a good nights sleep and that silky smooth throwing action is no longer that silky smooth. needs to get back practicing with Taylor, will do them both a world of good.
Adrian used to be my favourite player I think he needs to get fitter and maybe the darts will follow.. Look at Luke Humphries! The young guns today are fearless I doubt Adrian would be able to keep up...
