Lewis wins epic tie against Huybrechts, Aspinall eased past Smith

The first session of action at the 2021 Players Championship Finals has concluded with Adrian Lewis and Nathan Aspinall through to the second round.

Lewis faced off against Kim Huybrechts in a battle of former finalists and won through in an epic clash.

It was vintage ‘Jackpot’ at times as he won through 6-3 with a 97.3 average and hit two ton plus finishes in a clash of two resurgent stars.

While Aspinall eased past Jeff Smith who is fresh off his CDC Continental Cup triumph. He averaged 100.5 and hit four 180’s and 55% on the doubles in a polished display from ‘The Asp’.

Gabriel Clemens is also through after surviving a comeback after going 4-1 up to see off Steve Beaton 6-5 as the German took out 78 for the win. While Danny Noppert comfortably saw off Rowby-John Rodriguez 6-2 with a 101.3 average and five 180’s.
