The battle for the final women's spot for the PDC World Darts Championship has become a lot less exciting overnight. Tungsten Tales reports that Lisa Ashton will not be competing in the final weekend of the PDC Women's Series this weekend.
The reason is that Ashton has opted to compete in the Women's World Championship at Lakeside in December. This removes the option of competing at Alexandra Palace, as the PDC does not allow players to compete in both events.

Earlier, Beau Greaves had also made it known that she prefers participation at Lakeside to playing in the PDC World Darts Championship.
Ashton was currently fourth on the PDC Women's Series Order of Merit and was still a threat to third-placed Fallon Sherrock. There is now a good chance that Sherrock will join Mikuru Suzuki in qualifying for the World Darts Championship at the Alexandra Palace.
