We have already arrived at the last Euro Tour tournament of 2023. This weekend, the 11th edition of the
German Darts Championship is scheduled in Hildesheim.
Friday afternoon the first eight matches of the first round will be played. Jules van Dongen will aim to continue his superb form in one of the stories of the session.
Van Dongen has been on a major upswing in recent months and may quietly start dreaming of a debut at the World Darts Championship in December. Thanks to good performances over the past period, Van Dongen is virtually qualified for Alexandra Palace. On Friday afternoon he will play Patrik Kovacs in the first round of the German Darts Championship. With a victory over the Hungarian, Van Dongen can further strengthen.
Before Van Dongen's turn, seven other matches will be completed. The tournament gets underway at 1 p.m. with a clash between Boris Krcmar and Ryan Joyce. Next, Martin Lukeman will take on Madars Razma.
The third match sees two-time Lakeside champion Scott Waites in action against George Killington. Next, Steve Lennon faces Marcus Kirchmann, before Karel Sedlacek and Alan Soutar take the stage. Dylan Slevin meets Nico Kurz, and Jeff Smith begins his tournament against Darryl Pilgrim.
Where can I watch the German Darts Championship live?
In the UK, the
European Tour will be shown on PDCTV as usual, with DAZN and Viaplay in other territories also having the coverage. Sessions start at 12pm and 5pm respectively on all three days.
How much prize money is to be won?
During each Euro Tour tournament, £175,000 in prize money is distributed. All qualifiers are guaranteed £1,250, while the top-16 players on the German Darts Championship's seeds will receive £2,500 anyway. However, these 16 players must win their first game in the second round for the prize money to actually count toward the world rankings and other rankings.
Per victory, the prize money earned increases. For example, the finalists already receive a minimum of £12,000. The winner of the tournament goes home with the top prize of 30,000 pounds.
