Players Championship 13: Damon 'The Heat' Heta too hot for Aspinall to handle, wins eighth title

Damon Heta won his eighth Players Championship title and first of the year in Rosmalen at Players Championship 13 on Monday evening. Heta was too much for an out of sorts Aspinall who didn't bring his best game to the final.

The final started with back to back 15 dart holds, before Heta held again to lead 2-1, a 20 point difference in averages at that point despite the close scoreline. Heta then took control of the match, with a 13 dart break and a 15 dart hold on 107 checkout bringing him to 4-1 up.

Aspinall got another leg on the board, holding throw with Heta sat on 32 to bring the match to 4-2. Heta held in 13 darts to go three legs away from the title, before Aspinall checked out 110 to bring the match to 5-3. Not one to be outdone, Heta took out 120 for the next leg and the 6-3 lead.

Aspinall held throw in a scrappy 11th leg, holding in 21 darts, before breaking in the twelfth leg to tie the game at 6-6. Heta showed his class from there, holding to go 7-6 and breaking Aspinall in leg fourteen to win 8-6.
