Mickey Mansell has started off the latest day of action at the PDC World Darts Championship with an emphatic display to claim his maiden win in the showpiece event.
Mansell saw off Haupai Puha, who before proceedings began would have been a potential tip for victory due to his previous displays including at the World Cup of Darts but the 'Clonoe Cyclone' raced to victory with a whitewash win with a 94 average and 56% on the doubles.
Puha didn't register a leg in the three sets played with a 79 average and 0/4 on the doubles from 'Hopes'.
While like alluded to, it was 9/16 for the former PDC ranking winner who will now have a tie with Ricky Evans in his sights and based off his display to open the afternoon session, the confidence will be there.
