An interesting statistic was released after the UK Open was won last night by Michael Van Gerwen.

That was that this past edition was the first time in UK Open history that there has not been an English player in the last four.
Jamie Hughes and Rob Cross reached the Quarter-Finals with the former in particular having eight match darts to reach that point against Jonny Clayton.
This was a stark contrast to last year when it was an all English final between Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall. This time there was a Dutchman. two Welshman and a Northern Irishman left in the field in the latter stages.
