After an impressive 3-0 victory that probably doesn't tell the full story of the match,
William O'Connor was full of praise for 18-year-old
Beau Greaves' performance on her PDC World Championship debut. "She threw absolutely brilliant stuff, she's got a huge future ahead of her."
After all the hype surrounding Beau Greaves and her Ally Pally debut, not many people were talking about her opponent prior to this match. According to O'Connor himself, this was all part of the plan. "I didn't do any media up to this. I wasn't going to fall into the circus of what it was. I just dealt with the task that was at hand," he said. "Don't get me wrong I didn't want this draw. She's won everything, World Champion, World Masters Champion, nobody wants that smoke!"
Averaging just shy of 95, O'Connor was impressive in victory. His prize for dispatching Greaves? The German Giant, number 25 seed, Gabriel Clemens and the ever-confident O'Connor is backing himself to throw even better in the next round.
"I'm looking forward to it. I think we'll both have a good high-scoring game," the Irishman said. "I think it'll come down to finishing and doubles to determine who wins the game." With the Magpie looking to reach the third round for the 3rd time in his career, he sent a word of warning to Clemens saying, "Gabriel you better bring it because I'm bringing the smoke."
