O'Connor on excellent first half of 2019: 'I'm over the moon with the way things are going'

O'Connor spoke to the Limerick Leader, his local newspaper this past week and said that he has given up his job; it seems as a result to be paying dividends with the Irishman in the form of his life.

He will be involved in the Grand Slam, World Championship and Players Championship Finals which O'Connor admitted he wouldn't have believed twelve months ago.

In terms of further aims he added that for him he wants to try and make the World Grand Prix; his home tournament and try and get up the rankings.

“Overall, I’m over the moon with the way things are going. Getting to the final of the World Cup doesn’t guarantee me the Grand Slam of Darts, but it more or less kinda does!"

“I am going to be in the Grand Slam, going to be in the World Championships, going to be in the Players’ Championships, I would have snapped your arm off for that last year.

“I want to try and make the Grand Prix now, see if I can push that one step further and get up the rankings and see if I can make a full career out of it."

“The more you win, the more it improves your ranking, the higher up you get, the less pressure that is on you.

“As a result, you can plan more ahead with your schedule, you know what you’re doing. It just takes a lot of pressure off because it costs a lot of money to travel to all of these events so if you win a few bob, it takes the pressure off for the next one."
