O'Connor on lack of crowd at PDC World Championship: "It's just another Players Championship"

William O'Connor saw off Niels Zonneveld in a routine victory to begin his PDC World Darts Championship but despite that, 'The Magpie' admitted to pressure due to playing a debutant in the Dutchman.

"I just thought I should have focused a bit better. I felt the nerves of Niels, I felt the adrenaline. I though the first time being here of Niels, he's a really nice lad. I felt his pressure," said O'Connor post match.

"When we went on stage, I just saw Niels put so much pressure on himself, that it put pressure on me to perform. I know Niels can play, I know he is a super player."

He also discussed the lack of crowd and said that without them there, it just feels like a ProTour event.

"I don't feel the same buzz that was there last year. We need the crowd, it's not the same atmosphere. It's just another Players Championship if we don't have the crowd."
