The shirts the players will wear at the 2024 World Cup of Darts have received a major upgrade. The jerseys have been specially customized for each participating country.
In previous editions of the World Cup of Darts, the design of the shirt was the same for each country. Only the colours were matched to those of the respective country. As a result, the shirts looked quite boring in the past. For example, England wore a red shirt with white sleeves, and Wales had a green shirt with red sleeves. By 2023, the shirts already looked a little better with a pattern seen on all the shirts. But it could be even better, the PDC judged. They enlisted Fourex - a professional sportswear supplier - to have a unique shirt designed for each country. Another addition is that on the back of the shirt's collar, stars indicate how many times a country has won the World Cup of Darts in the past.
The Dutch shirt is, as it should be, predominantly orange. The trim is further rounded out with a black collar and a wide black border along the full length of the shirt.
The back of the collar features four stars, referring to the four times the Netherlands managed to win the World Cup of Darts. Three times Michael van Gerwen was part of the winning team. Then he played with Raymond van Barneveld, while 'Barney' also took the title once together with Co Stompé. This year Michael van Gerwen and Danny Noppert are playing on behalf of the Netherlands at the PDC's premier International Tournament.
The Belgian tricolour is fully reflected in the new jersey of the Belgians. Dimitri van den Bergh will wear this shirt guaranteed. Normally Kim Huybrechts will accompany him, but his participation has not yet been one hundred percent confirmed due a recent injury sustained by the Hurricane.
Red is the main colour of the 'Red Devils' shirt. The sleeves are coloured predominantly black, while the color yellow is applied through motifs on the front and back of the shirt.
In addition to the Netherlands, England was also able to place four stars on the back of the shirt. The legendary English duo Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis were the best at the World Cup of Darts in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016. The English jersey is mainly coloured white, but red and blue can also be found trimming the jersey.
On behalf of England, Luke Humphries and Michael Smith will play at the World Cup of Darts. For Humphries, it will be his debut at the Nations tournament.
Welsh defending champions Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton will also be decked out in new outfits for the upcoming edition of the World Cup of Darts. Price and Clayton won last year's Nations Tournament by defeating Scotland in the final.
They also won the tournament in 2020, so two stars adorn the shirt. The shirt is mostly red, with the background of the shirt showing the symbolic red dragon of Wales. The collar and sleeves are coloured white and green. These are the other two coluors in the flag of Wales.
The Scottish jersey is coloured entirely blue. However, the collar and sleeves are coloured slightly darker than the rest of the shirt. This jersey contains two stars, as Scotland has won the World Cup of Darts twice.
Gary Anderson and Peter Wright will form the Scottish team at the Nations Tournament. They took the title together in 2019. In 2021, Wright got to lift the cup again, but then he played alongside John Henderson.
The other countries also feature new jerseys, and there are some gems among them. How about Croatia's traditional red and white checkered shirt. The Czech Republic's shirt is completely tailored to the Czech flag, while the shirts of Guyana and Hong Kong, among others, have turned out well.

The revamped format, which was successfully introduced last year, will return in 2024. The tournament will begin with a group stage before moving into a knockout phase. In addition, all matches will consist of pairings.
The four highest-placed countries, based on the lowest cumulative PDC Order of Merit ranking of the two participating players, are directly admitted to the knockout stage. These are England, Wales, the Netherlands and Scotland. The remaining 36 teams will be split into 12 groups of three countries each. All group matches will be played on Thursday, June 27, and Friday, June 28. The group winner of each pool will advance to the last sixteen.
The second round, featuring the last remaining 16 countries, will compete for a spot in the quarterfinals on Saturday, June 29. These will take place on Sunday afternoon, June 30. The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Sunday evening.
