From September 8 to 10 the
German Darts Open will be played. Ricardo Pieterczko is one of the automatically qualified players as he is together with Gabriel Clemens one of the top-ranked players in the host country.
Pikachu will be in action in the evening session on Friday where he will meet his compatriot Daniel Klose. In the run-up, Pietreczko was interviewed by PDC Europe after the European Darts Open.
Here the German managed to defeat Peter Wright in the second round and went on to play his way into the quarterfinals, where he narrowly lost to Rob Cross 5-6.
"It was definitely a great feeling to win against Peter in the full hall in Leverkusen after I was already clearly behind. I know that I can beat anyone," Pietreczko answered confidently.
Due to his good performances in the PDC
European Tour and the Players Championship tournaments, Pikachu was able to qualify for the World Darts Championship. Something he looks forward to with joy. "I'm incredibly happy about the qualification. Ever since I've been playing darts I've dreamed of playing at the Ally Pally - I can't wait!"
As he got very good support from the fans during the matches on the PDC European Tour he hopes that many Germans will travel to the World Championship in London: "The fans are always behind us! It pushes you incredibly when all of a sudden 3,000 people shout your name and show you that they want the win just as much as you do. I think my nickname "Pikachu" also helped me win some hearts."
