Players Championship 3 sets new record for 180s per event

This past Saturday, the 180 record was broken during the third Players Championship with the most hit during an event in history.

During Players Championship 3, 548 180s were throw, one more than the old record which has stood since 2018. Back then 547 were hit during the nineteenth event on the ProTour that season.

The majority of these 180s were thrown as expected by Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright, with eighteen a piece. Ryan Searle who hit 17 and Jeffrey de Zwaan on 15 were just under that with Searle claiming the title in the end defeating Van Gerwen in a brilliant final.

It shows the increased standard on the ProTour with multiple nine-darters hit every weekend so far during the series.
